Local Spotlight: G&D Integrated

Business Highlight

Transportation and warehousing are two of the most important elements of a successful supply chain, no matter the industry. To operate a supply chain efficiently, a business needs to turn to experts in this field, and Greater Peoria is proud to have a top logistics company of its own: G&D Integrated.

G&D Integrated provides transportation solutions, warehousing and distribution, and manufacturing solutions to a growing variety of clients. With over 100 years of experience advancing innovative supply chain solutions, clients can turn to the company for any logistical needs they have.

The company is privately-owned and based in Morton, Illinois. G&D Integrated has clients across the continental United States and around the world. This year alone marks several growth milestones as they expand across North America. They have 20 facilities, in Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, South Carolina, so that they can serve each customer in the most convenient and cost-effective manner. Recent acquisitions in Columbia, SC, and Savannah, GA, are testaments to this.

G&D Integrated supports their clients’ growth by improving services and capacity while simultaneously reducing costs. They partner with them to identify and implement supply chain solutions that streamline operations, eliminate waste, and improve productivity. These efforts are showcased through G&D’s reinvestment in their manufacturing division. With aging machinery, they could either shut down the division entirely or commit to a total reinvestment. They chose to reinvest and centralize their manufacturing. They are now able to offer what most companies can’t: capacity. With the division centralized in Morton, IL, addition of new machinery and capacity, G&D Integrated is poised to grow and better meet the needs of companies across GP and beyond.

The history of G&D Integrated dates all the way back to 1882, when it was founded as O’Neill Brother Transportation In Peoria, Illinois. G&D Transportation officially formed in 1984, and in 2005 the Company rebranded as G&D Integrated, bringing together transportation, distribution, and specialized services. Now they have over 1,000 employees working for the company. They’ve grown into the resources of a large company with the flexibility and quality that come with a company its size.

Their largest differentiator ultimately comes down to their service, according to Curt Fisher, Vice President of sales, client relations, and marketing. As someone who has been on each end of the logistics world, Fisher has seen it all. He describes a situation where G&D Logistics showcased their stellar service. When one of their customer’s customers was having claims rates in the upper 40% and there was a discrepancy in the shipping records, the G&D team developed a creative solution to lend clarity on the issue. They built a software program to document the transportation process with photos at every step of the way and subsequently, the claims rates dropped to a fraction of a percentage.

“We’re small enough that we can be nimble. We can meet our customer’s needs and come up with suggestions that add a lot of value to our customer. We’re small enough that we can do that, but we’re large enough to have the resources.”

Curt Fisher, Vice President of sales, G&D Integrated

They are now working on connecting the dots from their Midwest base to their locations in the South East. In the future, they are looking to expand to new markets, introduce new services and technology to support their customer’s supply chain, and introduce new programs focused on improving employee and customer experience.

As a member of the Greater Peoria Manufacturing Network, they are connected to other manufacturing and logistics suppliers in the area, adding more value to what they can offer.
