Mark Hanback

TeamGP Spotlight: Mark Hanback

Mark Hanback has been Director of the Greater Peoria Manufacturing Network for about a month, but is quickly working with the team to seek ways to diversify the Greater Peoria customer base. Mark recently retired from Caterpillar with 38 years of experience in operations, product development and general management.  When asked why he wanted to take on this role Mark said, “I wanted to give something back to the area I have called home for the past 30 years.  By working with local suppliers to grow their companies we also improve the economic conditions of the Greater Peoria area.” He is looking forward to expanding the network and developing contacts that encourage diversification.
Mark was born in Joliet and raised in the small town of Yorkville, Illinois, but was no stranger to the Peoria area as his parents lived in Peoria before he was born and had many relatives that he visited with his family.
Mark is a graduate of Aurora University, with a degree in Accounting, and began working at Caterpillar in 1977 as a Manufacturing Apprentice. Since then, he has served many roles with Caterpillar, including Executive Director of Cat Production Systems. He previously served as President of the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce and was on the board for over five years. Mark is also a board member of Peoria Lakes Basin Alliance and on the Board of Directors for the Heartland Water Resources Council of Central Illinois. He is very passionate about restoring and revitalizing the Peoria lakes.
Mark currently resides in Morton with his wife, Terry.  They have six children and six grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys working on his farm in Tiskilwa, IL. He also loves to hunt and fish, so it is no surprise that his favorite place to visit in Greater Peoria is Bass Pro Shop.
