August 8, 2015 – Peoria, IL – Today, the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council announced Brent Baker has been selected as their new Peoria Pathways Coordinator.
“Brent was an ideal fit for this position,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Greater Peoria EDC. “In a short period of time, he has developed an award-winning program that has changed lives in a positive and meaningful way. We know he will do the same for local students.”
Baker grew up in Brimfield, Illinois and attended Bradley University. He recently completed two years as a LISC Americorp Service Member with the Peoria Housing Authority. During his time with PHA, Baker developed an award winning program assisting Taft Home residents in attaining their CNA Certification at Illinois Central College.
In his new role, Baker will be helping middle and high school students in the Peoria Public Schools prepare for and secure work-based learning opportunities in our region through the Peoria Pathways to Prosperity (PP2P) initiative.
PP2P began in June of 2014 with a resolution between Peoria District 150 Public Schools, the City of Peoria, CEO Council, Illinois Central College, Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Student Assistance Commission, Peoria Federation of Teachers, and Focus Forward Central Illinois. The coalition has worked over the past year to identify and develop strategies that will support student achievement.
Baker will begin his new position with the Greater Peoria EDC on August 17th.
