Yesterday, the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council recognized two great leaders in the community at the inaugural GP Annual Meetup hosted at The Warehouse on State.
Steve Stewart, Director of Human Resources at Excel Foundry, was recognized by the GPEDC for his contributions in talent development. Presenting the TeamGP Talent Development Award was GPEDC Board Member, Scott Aberle.
Steve Zika, local entrepreneur, was recognized by the GPEDC for his contributions in business development. Presenting the TeamGP Business Development Award was GPEDC Board Member, Jake Hamann.
“Our organization strives to grow business and talent in Greater Peoria,” said Jennifer Daly, CEO for the Greater Peoria EDC. “The two individuals who were recognized have played a significant role in those efforts. Steve Stewart led the development of our Discover Manufacturing Careers Expo for regional high school students, an event that has impacted over 5,000 students in the past 8 years. And without Steve Zika’s leadership in mentoring and providing seed equity, we wouldn’t have the Keystart Business Pitch Competition or seed funding for our early-stage startups. We have so many deserving volunteers who are making a difference, but these two certainly stood out to our entire team.”
The Greater Peoria EDC is a 501(c) 6 non-profit organization that drives economic growth in a five county region through targeted business and talent development.
