Tony Rolando, Senior Account Manager at Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), was born and raised in Farmington and has always thought that the Peoria area is the best place to work, play and live.
After graduating from Farmington East High School, Rolando obtained a degree in political science from Eastern Illinois University in 1974. After graduating from college, he managed and later owned Jack and Bill’s Apparel Inc. in Canton until 2001 and worked in business sales for US Cellular before starting at DCEO in 2004.
Rolando has been with the Illinois Department of Commerce for over 12 years. His position allows him to work with local EDOs to get state support, bring incentives and pay for training. Rolando appreciates his position as Senior Account Manager, responsible for the ten county North Central Region. “I enjoy the fact that this position offers different challenges every day, I appreciate the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life, from small communities to great cities like Peoria and Bloomington/ Normal,” says Rolando, “As the Senior Account Manager for the region I work primarily on job creation and retention projects, as well as workforce issues with employers. I also have the opportunity to work with smaller cities on challenges from emergency situations to infrastructure issues.”
When he’s not working, you can catch Rolando hitting golf balls with his buddies or spending time with his grandchildren, Carter and Audrey. Rolando is also a member of the Farmington Betterment Association where he enjoys assisting in projects that develop the city. “I really like being a part of something that helps out my hometown in so many ways.” Says Rolando.
