Eric Miller, Acting Executive Director at the Tri County Regional Planning Commission, has a long history with the Greater Peoria area. Born and raised in East Peoria, Miller attended ISU and eventually settled in Tremont with his wife and three kids.
Miller started out interning with the Peoria Planning Department which led to his interest in the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission. Upon graduation, there happened to be an opening as Planner I, an entry level position. Miller jumped at the chance. “I didn’t know a lot about regional and transportation planning at this point, but I thought it would be interesting,” says Miller. “Turns out, I really enjoyed my work and they decided to keep me around awhile,” he says with a chuckle.
Eric Miller has been with the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission now for over 25 years. The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission provides regional planning services to the Tri-County Region which includes Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties in Central Illinois. These services include regional projects such as metropolitan transportation planning services.
During his spare time, Miller enjoys spending time with his wife traveling, playing golf and working in the yard. Even though he enjoys the moments he can indulge in hobbies, Miller loves his job. “Working with people that care about the region, meeting people I haven’t been fortunate to meet before: these are the best parts of my job. We have the same goals, and it’s a great thing to be able to collaborate and share our passion for this area with other like-minded individuals.”
