By Kim Uhlig, Director of Business Attraction
At the end of January, officials from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) along with Andria Winters, President of Intersect Illinois, met with the Greater Peoria Attraction Team.
Intersect Illinois and DCEO are working together to launch a more aggressive marketing and business attraction effort for the state. This meeting was an opportunity to educate both teams on the vast assets in Greater Peoria.
We also had the chance to learn about their 2017 marketing strategy and discuss new ways to collaborate.
Their visit included a field trip to highlight our growing healthcare industry. We stopped by Methodist College, Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center, and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Our visitors were extremely excited about the opportunities coming out of this growing industry in the Greater Peoria area.
In most states, over 20% of business attraction leads come from the state’s economic development department. We are excited to see Intersect Illinois launch their strategies and hopefully grow the number of qualified business attraction leads they are able to generate for Greater Peoria.
